JMET Exam analysis and answer key information

As its last week before JMET , I would like to share a few things that helped me crack JMET last year.

1> Solve one or two mock papers in the last week and get familiar with the pattern, normally the pattern doesn’t deviate much. so be very familiar with it.

2> One of the main difference of JMET or FMS as compared to CAT is that its much more a speed test than an accuracy or interpretation one, what it means is that don’t look for demons or boogie traps where you are not going to find any. You will just end up wasting your time. Once you see that the paper is easy don’t waste too much time on crosschecking.

3> Last year DI and LR were very simple..you could do nearly everything quickly.

4> In English also if you can breakdown a question to two options and aren’t sure which of the two is right, do choose one and don’t leave it unanswered, you will get enough positive marks in the entire section, which matters in a high scoring paper.

5> In a 4 sec paper where logically you would give 30 mins each sec ,do not take your toughest section at the end, I made the mistake of taking quant at the end, panicked a bit and nearly messed up. So you might be tempted to keep the last 20 mins for your toughest section ,but don’t do that, the last 20 mins you would be tired and you can get into panic mode.

6> Quant last year the cutoff was close to 5, I choose to give very little time to quant and it paid off for me ,so while you might want to score well in all secs you have to maximize your score cause once you are selected for GD/PI only the final rank mattered last year and not your rank.

7> About higher maths if you aren’t good at it its too late and it never gets anyone selected in JMET but do the topics you are comfortable with in case there is a surprise in the paper

Disclaimer : All this was in relation to last few year’s JMET, the paper could change and so could the cutoffs , so in case you see a different pattern don’t panic just draw from your experience of all the different papers that you have given and you would do just fine.
